Our Story
Heather says:
I met Jason at work way back in 1997!!We were friends for years and would do occasional lunches, talk and e-mail. He was so good looking and cool! We kept friends and later on we were single and finally went on a date! Two years later...the engagement..... We just talked about it and figured out the plan-- we couldn't imagine life without each other. AND THEN......Valentine's Day 2003. Jason was acting funny all day in the way kind of like a little kid excited about going to Disneyland or something. I had a feeling the 'official' engagement was going to happen soon but I wasn't sure if it was going to be Valentine's Day or my birthday - those were my two guesses. We met at home after work and cooked dinner. We didn't plan on doing anything this year because we had to leave early on Sat. morning for Chicago to visit the Hardys. Jason kept telling me that Phoebe wanted me to hold her. He kept giving her to me over and over again and I could not understand why he wanted me to have her every second! She didn't even want me, she wanted her toys!!! Then, I finally noticed it! Dangling from Phoebe's collar was the ring. I almost died. I started crying but like laughing too. Then he took it off, got down on one knee and said, 'Heather will you marry me?', 'YES!'. Then he told me that the ring had been on Phoebe's collar the whole entire night and I had not even noticed it. He said it was making him nervous because here is Phoebe running around with my ring on her collar!!! After that I was running around the house like a crazy woman. I called my Dad, Mom, and everyone else I could think of. Jason had planned it all so that when we got to Chicago I would have a huge surprise announcement for my family!
Jason says:
What she said! ...just kidding.... For years there was a cutie in the building at work (Heather), but we just remained friends. When the time was right I made my move. From friends we became something much more. The engagement.... I do have to say she was on to me at times and it was hard to plan but I think it turned out perfect -- she was shocked and Phoebe added her own special touch by being a part of the surprise.
