The first thing I did the day my parents dropped me off at college is turn my little boombox all the way up as I was finishing unpacking my boxes. Suddenly this guy came down the hall and walked directly into my room. In a loud voice he yelled, "I can't hear it down in my room! Why don't you turn it up!" I stepped up to him hostily thinking this clown must be one of those sarcastic types and said, "What, you got some kind of problem with Tom Petty?" He replied, "No I love him! You want to go to his concert next weekend?" The next two summers I ended up working security at Alpine Valley with Brendan and we nonetheless became excellent friends and even roommates. Brendan is one of those very laid back guys who has a tremendous sense of humor. I never had a dull moment hanging around with him. I miss how we used to stay up until all ends of the night talking about anything and everything. I am forever grateful Brendan didn't turn around and walk back to his room after I yelled at him that first day of school. My college years would have been a lot less memorable if he had. Currently Brendan is finishing up his final year of his undergraduate program at the University Wisconsin - Whitewater.
