"While it would be nice to have a free site, I didn't like the free sites that were offered, and I have no web expertise whatsoever, so trying to create a free site on my own would be a very expensive proposition, time-wise! We're trying to keep our budget down and found the "a la carte" menu to be a great way to choose exactly what we wanted on the site."
Increasingly, brides are planning weddings that involve friends and family that live all over the country - and the world! How do you choose a bridesmaid's dress when it is next to impossible to get your bridesmaids together or even individually in the town where the store is?
Why not shop for a bridesmaid dress online? Or at least choose the style and maker of your bridesmaid dress online. You can send your bridesmaids to take a look at the dresses you are thinking of (in many cases, you can e-mail your choices right to them). Then, you can either collect their sizes and order the dresses for them, or have them visit a retailer near them to order their dress. (Just remember to write down the designer, style number, and color!)
Here are some online bridesmaid dress sites:
David's Bridal - They have an online catalog, but you cannot order online. You can create a "dressing room" and e-mail your choices to your bridesmaids. Their dress prices are fairly reasonable and they have locations across the country.
Dessy - This is a relatively well-known bridesmaid dress maker - their prices are not the least expensive. You can choose dresses to e-mail to your bridal party, but you cannot order a bridesmaid dress online.
Watters & Watters - Definitely designer bridesmaids dresses - rather pricey. But, there is a wide collection of styles, you can e-mail a dress to a friend, and there are many retailers across the country. You cannot order online.
Gowns, Etc. - This is not a well-known bridal dress maker, however, you can order securely online. They also have a size chart to eliminate the guesswork of what size to order in a particular style. Their prices seem reasonable - don't forget the cost of shipping - and they have online testimonials.
Hint: Your bridesmaids can generally get their sizes by going to any bridal store - usually this is free. If a store does want to charge them, have them go to the place where they know they will have their alterations done. (Unfortunately, alterations are a reality for almost every bridesmaid.) If a shop knows they will be coming back with alterations, they will most likely be happy to take their measurements. Your bridesmaids will need measurements for their bust, waist, and hips.
Hopefully some of these online bridesmaid dress catalogs will help you solve your bridesmaids dilemma! If you have a good or bad experience with any of these sites, we would love to know about it - please write me, kelly@bwedd.com Finally, you can find a more complete listing of bridesmaid dresses online on our Brilliant Wedding Pages website.
